Knowing What To Do, But Doing the Opposite

Ever wonder why you keep doing the very thing you know you shouldn’t?

You tell yourself, “This time will be different.” You plan. You hope. And then, you self sabotage… again!

It’s frustrating. It’s confusing. And it leaves you asking: What the heck is wrong with me?!

This isn’t a flaw in your character. It’s human nature. And it’s called cognitive dissonance.

Your Tonic For The Week

Cognitive dissonance is that inner tension you feel when your actions don’t line up with what you know is right for you. It’s the tug-of-war between what your spirit craves and what your flesh settles for.

You want health, clarity, and peace. But you reach for the glass of wine, the phone, the distraction, food, etc. Why? Because in the moment, the short-term comfort wins over the long-term desire.

But here’s the reality check.

You can’t create lasting change when that dissonance is running the show. The gap between what you want and what you do has to be bridged. And that gap is a GRAY AREA.

Your Next Move

So, where to begin?

Start by writing down one place in your life where your actions don’t match what you truly want. Just one. Don’t judge it. Don’t try to fix it yet. Just notice it.

Awareness is the first step to closing the gap… and having a strong desire to change it.

Keep going with your desire.

Here’s to living fully.

P. S. Over the next several weeks, I’ll share more about each step of the DECIDE Method and how it can help you move past self-sabotage and into alignment.
