How to Make a Change Using the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model™

How to Make a Change Using the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model™

How to Make a Change Using the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model™

In the journey of life, change is inevitable. Whether it’s a shift in career, a transition in relationships, or an evolution in health habits, the pursuit of change can be challenging yet incredibly rewarding. However, knowing how to navigate this path to personal growth is crucial, and that’s where the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model of Change™ comes into play.

The D.E.C.I.D.E. Model™ is a unique, holistic approach to facilitating transformative change in your life. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be delving deep into each aspect of this model. For today, let’s focus on the first two pivotal steps: ‘D’ for the Desire to make the change and ‘E’ for Exploring your WHY.

Having a Strong Desire: The Cornerstone of Change

Before you embark on any change journey, you need to ask yourself: Do I possess a strong desire to make a significant shift in my life? Desire is more than just a wish; it’s the yearning for something different, something better. Without this burning desire, change remains a dream and nothing more.

Desire is the bedrock of all significant changes. It fuels the courage to step out of your comfort zone, tackle challenges head-on, and persist even when the journey gets tough. Having a clear desire provides the motivation to move from your current state to your preferred state.

Exploring Your WHY: Your Change Anchor

Your ‘WHY’ is your compass in the journey of change. It’s the deep-rooted reason behind your desire for transformation. Understanding your ‘WHY’ is crucial because it is what keeps you anchored and focused when you face obstacles along your journey.

Your ‘WHY’ should be something of profound value to you – it could be related to your health, career, relationships, family, or any other aspect that holds significant meaning in your life. When you encounter setbacks, revisiting your ‘WHY’ will remind you of the importance of the change you’re pursuing, rekindling your motivation and reinforcing your commitment.

Think of your ‘WHY’ as your North Star guiding you through the dark, ensuring you stay on the right path towards achieving your desired change. And when something comes along to trip you up (and it inevitably will), having your strong WHY will bring you back to center. It will help ground you and remind you why you’re making the shift.

Laying the Foundation for Lasting Change

Embodying a strong Desire for change and thoroughly Exploring your ‘WHY’ are fundamental first steps in the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model of Change™. They serve as the foundation for the rest of the model.

In the coming weeks, we’ll explore the rest of the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model™, unfolding each step and sharing practical ways to integrate them into your life for a successful transformation.

So, whether you’re looking to enhance your career, improve your health, or enrich your relationships, the D.E.C.I.D.E. Model™ is your roadmap to navigate the path of transformation. Stay tuned for the rest of this journey, as we’ll be delving deeper into the steps of Commitment, Identity Shift, Daily Habits, and how Everyday Effort leads to full expansion.

Hi! I’m Kari Schwear, Founder of GrayTonic, and the Question the Drink movement.

I’m a perpetual life-learner, a 7x career path conqueror, Executive Lifestyle Coach, Author, and Speaker. I’m also a former hot mess that was stuck in several gray areas of my life (drinking being the top one!) and wondering how I got there. This blog is a columniation of my methodology, teachings, beliefs, and personal struggles that I’ve endured over the years. I hope it blesses you.
