How to Withstand Fear in Predictable Uncertainty

Due to COVID-19, we are in unprecedented territory as a global community. The fear of this new reality is very real. It can be described as Predictable Uncertainty. 

We are most fearful when we don’t know what’s coming next. Our body is hardwired to move into a sympathetic response in our nervous system causing us to fight, flight, or freeze in unknown terror.  

It’s understandable. The threat is real and we should be taking this seriously. But there is one tool that you can learn that will not only help boost your immune system, but it will also help with your body’s response to moving into a parasympathetic response; one of gratitude, power, and filled with peace. 

What’s the secret tool? 

Having an invincible mindset. Your mind is the gateway to all joy, peace, and gratitude. It’s more than just having a positive attitude. It’s about rewiring your brain and thought patterns to acknowledge the thinking that is causing you to not feel good. We call this the circular thinking loop. 

Your worrisome thoughts are brought on by a belief that you formed from something learned either consciously or unconsciously. The negative thought evokes a feeling in your body that causes you to get upset, worried, angry, depressed, anxious, etc. The not-feel-good-thought then drives action or inaction, reinforcing the original belief, hence the circular thinking loop.

To change the hard-wired patterns of your negative thinking, it’s important to know that we have only two states of being, or said another way, state of mind. They are either Powerful or Negative. We can also call them Beautiful or Suffering states of being/mind. 

How to withstand fear?

Knowing the two states and that you can only be in one at a time, the goal is to be in a powerful state as much as possible. The moment you find yourself drifting into the negative circular loop of thinking, stop the thought and acknowledge it. A great tool to help is the SABER Method. Used consistently, you can rewire your brain to move into a powerful state of mind.

You can also control your mind by staying in a powerful state, being cognizant of your thought patterns, using the SABER Method, and by developing an invincible mindset.
